But *HOW* Do We Get Through This? Here's a FREE CE Course That Might Help
We have spoken on the phone and through video chat. I have even seen it in your social media comments. I hear you… I feel it too. We find ourselves in a unique circumstance of struggling with how to be present for our clients as well as taking care of ourselves. We are all feeling the impact of our current reality.
We’re pretty sure we can get through this. But HOW?
My dear colleague, Dr. Judy Ho has a whole lot of clarity and wisdom on this topic. She is the one I turned to when I wanted to know: How do we understand what's happening with our clients and ourselves? How do we take care of ourselves so that we can be effective therapists? How do we do all of this while talking to clients through computer screens?
Dr. Judy is a colleague of mine at Pepperdine, where we both teach in the graduate psych department. A triple-board certified neuropsychologist, and published author. You might also know her from TV's The Doctors… she's one of the hosts, and she's also just launched an awesome new podcast called Supercharged Life. She sat down with me this weekend (by video chat, of course), and I spoke with her about how to work through this time, as clinicians.
I turned that interview into our new free podcast CE course, Getting Through COVID-19 Directives: Supporting Connection and Emotional Health. This course covers things such as the evolutionary basis of anxiety, how to cope with stress related to the pandemic, and practical skills you can use as therapists to facilitate better coping in both yourself and your clients. She even speaks about how to improve therapeutic intimacy during video sessions.
One free CE credit is offered.
Clearly Clinical is an approved provider with the APA, NBCC, ASWB, NAADAC, CCAPP, and CAMFT.
We hope this new free course is helpful for you, and, as always, thank you for the work you do. If you haven't checked out our two other free pandemic courses, please do: Making Sense of the Pandemic: Psychological Impact on Clients and Communities and Swiftly Transitioning to Online Therapy, Legally, Ethically, and Efficiently.
Until next time, be well, my dear colleagues.
