The Business of Practice: Are You and Your Practice at Risk?

  • Woodland Hills Country Club (map)

Join Elizabeth as she presents at San Fernando Valley’s CAMFT meeting at Woodland Hills Country Club at 21150 Dumetz Road in Woodland Hills, CA 91364 on Sunday, July 14th. Registration/networking begin at 8:30am, and the presentation will begin at 9:00am. 1.5 CE Credit Hours.

Presentation Summary: Many myths float around the therapist community, like, “Write short, vague notes in case the notes are used in court,” or, “Private pay therapists don’t really need to keep progress notes,” and these mistruths contribute to therapists making inadvertent documentation errors that can have significant consequences for them and for their clients. This engaging presentation is geared at increasing clinicians’ understanding of the legal, ethical, and liability-related factors that come into play with clinical documentation, regardless of whether they accept insurance, public funding like MediCal or MediCare, or private pay. There will also be discussion about strategies for clinicians about how to conceptualize Medical Necessity and efficiently and simply integrate it into different clinical documentation components.
